Ronny Matzat – The story of Design Kartell (DSGNK), the innovative business model and project approach

Ronny was born in former East Germany and describes himself as a world citizen and creative superhero. At the core of Ronny’s work is a passion for innovation and design putting people in the center of the picture. He is one of the few young designers that intuitively and holistically designs with environmental principles and knowledge resulting in innovative solutions. His design projects have won awards in innovation and sustainable design, unveiling him as an emerging talent in the industry.

Ronny is the founder and director of DSGN Kartell as well as a co-founder and design consultant for the Green Building Institute Australia (GBI), where him and the GBI team claimed the “Innovation of the Year”award at the 2016 Sustainability awards, for creating the world’s first green online college. As his very latest business endeavor, Ronny co-founded Biolastics, a company set to transform today´s plastic industry into a sustainable domain by using bioplastics made from renewable raw material.

Dr Barry A. J. Clark – Reducing the adverse health and environmental consequences of exposure to artificial light at night

Barry Clark’s qualifications are BSc in physics, MAppSc and PhD in optics and physiological optics, and DipMechEng.

His 37-year career was in optics and vision research in the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation.  In the 23 years since he retired, he has continued doing research in these fields and spent several years as a consultant.  He also spent more time flying glider tugs and gliders, and has continued to build and use astronomical telescopes.  He is an Honorary Life Member of the Astronomical Society of Victoria and leads the Society’s efforts to counter light pollution.

Mark Glickman – Sustainable Living and Save Resources Organization

Dr. Mark Glickman received his B. Eng. (1st Class Honours) in Electronic Engineering from RMIT University in December 2002, Doctor of Philosophy from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in February 2008, Masters of Electronic Engineering from RMIT University in December 2012, Diploma of Project Management from Upskilled in April 2016 and Masters of Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering from Deakin University in June 2017… READ MORE

Mark was born in Moldove, in 1980, moved to Israel with his parent and fraternal twin brother in 1990 before coming to Australia in 1992. Mark works as a consultant in electrical and electronic engineering industry.

Grant Li – Luminaire product safety and certification

Grant Li is 28 years old and graduate from RMIT university with degree of Electrical engineering.

He is a project manager from TÜV Rheinland Australia.He has been working in testing and certification industry for 4 years and I’ve got strong technical background in different product categories, such as, lightings, household products, PV inverters and cables as well as regulation and certification requirement in Australia.

Kim Andrew – New horizons for ecolabels and Sustainability

Kim represents GECA licensees and advocates for the uptake of sustainable products across multiple industries.

She is also responsible for increasing the available range of GECA certified sustainable products and services by reaching out to manufacturers and encouraging certification. Kim has a background in sustainable materials and design with a focus on International Law and human rights in the materials industry… READ MORE

Before coming to GECA, she spent 14 years working with the University of New South Wales as Design Coordinator for UNSW Foundation Studies, and has volunteered with Sustainable Business Australia as Manager of Safe & Sustainable Materials. Kim is GRI trained, holds Masters qualifications in Design (UTS) and completed International Law and International Relations (UNSW), Environmental Management Cert IV and Sustainability and Climate Change Law (UNU Tokyo). Kim has worked from the bottom up and the top down and is working to create greater change in the middle.

Romney Bishop – Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard and how it can benefit providers of residential efficiency products

Romney worked in fnance and administration management for 25 years before moving into the sustainability field in 2009. Romney has had her own sustainability consulting business for nine years and, until recently, was Senior Sustainability Officer at Nillumbik Shire Council. She joined DELWP to help deliver the Victorian Residential Efficiency Scorecard late last year after working with the team on a pilot and throughout the stakeholder engagement phase of the project… READ MORE

Romney is passionate about helping households to achieve a smaller impact on the environment as well as achieving more comfortable homes that are affordable to run.
